The Adventures of John Delgado

Climbing up Granite Hill can be a challenge, especially if there is snow. It becomes a greater effort if one is carryng something cumbersome. The Hill offers a great view of the area especially the Federal Prison which houses some of the most famous cases in Federal Jurisprudence.
The natural setting is disarming. Residents come here to see the old quarry. You can collect flagstones. You'll run into Park Ranger, though. It is overgrown with many trails crisscrossing this little park where wild berries grow.
The man was dressed in normal garb. A heavy jacket and baseball cap, dark sunglasses and scarf completed his innocuous dress. The long duffel bag looked like a large tent. No one even noticed.
Once you enter the trees overlooking the prison, you are invisible. The man sat down took out his binoculars.  He was scanning the prison yard looking for the Sheikh. The Sheikh exercises there even though he is blind. The man assembled the  rifle.
One look confirmed the identity of the Blind Sheikh. He chambered a round. A hollow point that expands and sprawls on contact. Lethal  placement is all that is needed. He took careful aim.
A twig cracked as Detective John Delgado drew his 9 mm and aimed at the back of the head of this sniper. The coldness of the day amplified his voice as he quietly said "you will die with that rifle in your hands. If you think you can escape this situation, face the reality. Carefully lay that weapon down now and get on the ground."
It should have been a standard arrest. The heavy jacket was open and as he complied his hand slipped inside and found the grip of the automatic 40 cal Glock. He let go rounds in the general direction of John, more as warning shots since it went through the jacket. He was now behind the rocks.
The 9 mm John had was no match for the .40 caliber. He was outgunned. John dove behind one of the trees as more rounds were finding the bark of the Douglas Fir. Gunfire does not sound like firecrackers.
It was now a Mexican standoff. The man began making his way downhill leaving his rifle and binocs for John to collect.   He had already radioed for backup but it was slow in coming since Granite Hill was on the perimeter of the city.  The man escaped this time.
President Trump was injured yesterday by a sniper. Just a graze. He was seen on the Golf links this morning at 9 am.  A really tough hombre.  Snipers are everywhere.

Blueberry

Blueberry dreams are are not what they seem
Hardly a day goes by
All you see when you go shopping somewhere
Blueberry cream apple pie is there.

The shame of it all, the shame of it all
Feeding yourself has hazards built in
Dodging the sugars preservatives and sins
Of people who want your money are not your friend.
